      What is a graphic designer?

Hopefully after reading this article, you will get answers to all the questions regarding graphic designing. and you will be able to know where to start and how to do graphic designing. Like most graphic designing candidates, do you also like Adobe Photoshop or any other tool by imaging tools such as Microsoft Paint, if yes, then graphic designing can prove to be a right career for you and it can become a right choice.

      Become a graphic designer

Before choosing any career option, it is very important to know the right information about the field in which you are thinking about making a career. So before knowing how to become a graphic designer, let us know what graphic designing is ultimately.

      What is Graphic Designing?

Graphic Designing meaning – Graphic designing is a way of expressing a message using word images, shapes and colors.

There is a very common misconception about designing that is in the minds of many people who believe that graphic designing is to know; all kinds of tools from graphic to software intellectually, which means that if you are looking for any good graphic designing software you learn to drive, then you will be a graphic designer.

But let me say that this is not completely true. A professional graphic designer needs to have creative graphics and they also need to know the designing techniques used to create an attractive design.

A graphic designer is very important to be creative, so if you want to be a successful graphic designer, then you have to develop creativity within yourself.

      What’s graphic designer basics

To better understand the meaning of graphic design, it is important to be aware of the elements and principles that make up design. Elements are used in conjunction or opposition with each other to create visually striking and impactful designs.

      Become a graphic designer

      These graphic design elements include:

      1. Color
      2. Form
      3. Line
      4. Shape
      5. Size
      6. Space
      7. Texture

Graphic designers also adhere to the principles of design, which are essentially a set of guidelines that help a designer achieve effective composition. These basic principles aid in creating balance and stability for the piece of work.

These graphic design learning principles include:

      1. Balance
      2. Contrast
      3. Emphasis
      4. Movement
      5. Proportion
      6. Rhythm

You’ve heard the old saying that “rules are meant to be broken,” which can certainly ring true in this case. But a good graphic designer must first understand these principles before making the conscious decision to break them.

A successful designer is the one who has creativity. I put creativity and graphic designing software in this ratio. That is –

      Creativity 90% + Tools & Software 10%= Graphic Designer 100%

A question may have come to your mind that why only 10% importance has been given to tools and software; whereas the whole work has to be, done by the softwares and you cannot create a design without them.

Your thinking is absolutely right, in this era of today you should come to use graphic designing software, but its importance is not as much as if you are thinking that if this happens then everyone would become a graphic designer.

The very simple funda is here to explain this-

Because you can learn any software within 10 to 15 days of practice and while working as a graphic designer on it continuously, even a child of 12 years of age can do it.

Learning a lot of tools does not make you a good graphic designer but your imagination and creativity makes you a great designer. Definitely imagining any new thing is not an everyone’s cup of tea.

This is one of the most difficult tasks in the whole world, you must have known the founder of Apple, Steve Job, he was someone very expert in imagining the designer.

But don’t be dishearten, it doesn’t mean that you can’t do it or that no one else can do it. I hope you have heard the saying that “practice makes human beings perfect” for you to reach out to other good professional graphic designers. Practice requires more and more practice.

You will take time in this; you do not run at all thinking that you will become a very good graphic designer in the very early stage of your career.

Graphic designing is an art. A graphic designer is able to use the knowledge of this art to select the right graphic elements (text, shapes and images) to convey the correct and clear message in an easy way.

      Types of graphic design

As mentioned earlier, there is no single graphic design meaning. Graphic design is composed of many fields and specializations, ranging from print design jobs and web graphic designer to animation and motion graphics. Graphic design offers opportunities and options for individuals of almost any interest.

      Become a graphic designer

If you’d asked someone 30 years ago to define graphic design, their answer would have likely been focused on print-related examples like magazine designer, movie posters and advertisements. Now we’re living in the digital age, which has given birth to several new types of graphic design.

Some of the most notable modern-day graphic design examples stem from advancements in technology. Here’s a glimpse of some of these types of graphic design:

        GRE

Understanding the GRE Exam – What is the GRE test

Graduate Record Examination GRE known  Worldwide, GRE tests are administered by the Educational Testing Service (ETS).

Since 1936, educational institutions around the world have been using theGRE to ensure that;  students with the right qualifications get seats for the desired course where they want to study.

The GRE is not a mandatory requirement for every college or university. However, if you are planning to study abroad, especially in the US, an educational institution will demand GRD test scores along with your admit card.

There are two unique sorts of GRE tests: General and Subject. Most educational institutions will require a score on either of these two GRE tests.

However, you may have to submit a GRE general score as well as a GRE subject in exceptional cases, seeking admission to highly specialized courses.

Now let us see how the GRE test differs from the GRE subject test.

Difference between GRE General and GRE Subject.

There are five major differences between GRE General and GRE subject tests. Let me explain these briefly so that you can prepare better for the GRE exam you want to apply for.

        S.no

        GRE General

        GRE Subject

        1

Required while applying for graduate or post graduate Studies.

Required only when applying for highly specialized courses.

        2

consists of a total of three sections : Verbal Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning and Qualitative Reasoning

It includes 8 different subjects: – psychology, computer science, physics, biochemistry, biology, chemistry, physics and English literature. Depends on college or university

        3

GRE general conducted throughout the year, online & offline both

The GRE Subject test is conducted only offline. in the months of April, August and October, although the schedule may vary according to your country.

        4

In GRE general you have to score between
Verbal reasoning: 130–170, in 1-point increments
Quantitative reasoning: 130–170, in 1-point increments
Analytical writing: 0–6, in half-point increments

GRE subject test scores are calculated from 220 to 900 points with an increment assigned to every 10 points.

        5

        Fees stated in $ – effective from 01,july 2021.

        India: $ 231.30
        China:$ 213.00
Other parts of world: $ 205.00

        Fees stated in $ – effective from 01,july 2021.

        It cost $150 worldwide.

These five contrasts make it clear that you have to plan for the two kinds of GRE tests in various manners.

        GRE General Exam Preparation

The first thing to remember is that- Passing a GRE test prep is not as easy as it looks. Instead, you have to put extra effort with great seriousness to crack the GRE General Test and score high. This is because every college and university requires a minimum score to apply.

Meaningfully, if you earn less than the prescribed marks from a college or university, then your application for admission also does not come for consideration.

This automatically gives away an excellent opportunity to study at some of the respected seats of learning. This affects your entire career and without exaggeration your whole life is getting affected.

Follow these simple tips for preparing for GRE General Test:-

        1. Know where you stand –

Here is my first suggestion for preparing for GRE General: Find exactly where you stand. As I explained earlier, GRE General consists of three tests: Qualitative reasoning, verbal reasoning, and analytical reasoning. These are skills that you cannot actually acquire by reading textbooks or study material.

Makes sense, there are lots of books and online courses available that teach you how to crack these three tests.

However, in my opinion, the best way to pass these tests is by using your own skills and fixing them with lots of studies from the available material.

The best way to start your GRE general journey is to try some of the free online mock tests available, without having to read some books or gre study material. Rely on your own reasoning skills to crack these mock tests. Each of these mock tests gives you a score.

Use this simple guide to know where you are standing. Because every college and university have different minimum GRE scores. And if you are falling short of this minimum score, find areas where you can do better.

        2. Fix Your Goal Score

Figuring out where you can do better is very important because it automatically guides you to the second step: fixing your target score. Obviously, you have three to five colleges and universities where you want admission for undergraduate or postgraduate courses.

Find out what the minimum GRE normal score is for admission to the colleges and universities of your choice.

As I stated earlier, each academic institution has its own parameters for the GRE General’s score for accepting students. You can easily find these minimum score requirements by checking the websites of these colleges and universities.

As the familiar axiom goes: Always focus on the moon. Meaning, once you are aware of the minimum GRE General Score requirement, aim to score more. This improves your overall chances of getting admission in the educational institution of your choice.

        GRE

        3. Identify Your Gray Areas

Now when you know the difference between the marks obtained without preparing for the GRE test and; minimum GRE score to get admission in your chosen college or university, things get easier.

The next step is to identify your gray areas carefully. This is quite easy because you had already taken the mock test and got the previously suggested scores in this article. Mock test results will clearly indicate your strong points and gray areas.

Once you have a list of these gray areas, make a complete plan to patch them. This is not as difficult as you might believe incorrectly. The score will show you clearly where you have logged in as well as strong areas.

Focus on making your strong areas stronger. Most GRE general applicants fail to do something like this. They believe that they are strong in certain areas and ignore them, focusing on the weak. This is the wrong way of preparing for GRE general tests. When you reinforce your already strong points, you are actually aiming for a higher score rather than just aiming for a minimum score.

At the same time, be prepared to work very hard to cover the gray areas where you can certainly do a lot better.

        4. Define your approach to the test

The GRE General requires a specific approach. That means, you have to decide for yourself, the way you handle and answer every question and test.

Here is some important information: Each part of the GRE General subject requires a completely different approach. You cannot have a fixed mindset to answer every question and challenge.

There is a lot of study material available from ETS. These are the official product and publication or authority of ETS that conduct GRE general testing.

They have superb practice sessions that will provide deep insights to tackle analytical, quantitative and verbal tests for GRE.

Apart from this, you can also pay as well as download some free resources from the official ETS website. I recommend you to go for all these free resources initially and later, if necessary, go for paid ones.

        GRE

        5. Online or Offline

Most of the GRE General candidates opt for the online examination. Therefore, focus your energy on cracking the online version. Unless, of course, there are online tests in your area or you have specific reasons for choosing offline ones.

It is very easy to make fun of online tests and practice them daily. Although ETS is official, there are some great mock GRE tests available from other providers. When you use a combination of both, you are better prepared for the GRE General because you will also learn different approaches.

        6. Increase GRE vocabulary

And finally prepare for the GRE exam by improving your vocabulary in line with ETS and university standards. There is no shortage of free online study material that will help you learn complex grammar and; other skills that hold the key to improving your GRE general vocabulary.

I am stressing the GRE General terminology as this is the part where most of the candidates thrived and failed. In fact, the vocabulary part is not difficult. Unfortunately, most candidates lose out on this account due to overconfidence.

Nowadays, coaching classes provide free English speaking courses online to improve vocabulary and develop an approach to crack GRE General are also available. I have no personal view of these classes.

If you like going to coaching classes, then look for people with a great track record in your field. It usually advertises its high scorer students. But, stay away from the prolonged claims made by these coaching classes.

        Preparation for GRE subject

From above you know how to crack the GRE General Test, from here you know how to prepare for GRE subject.

Follow the same steps as GRE General test

The steps that I have described above for GRE General are the ones you have to follow for the GRE subject test as well.

However, you can skip the vocabulary part of GRE General Preparations. Also, you will need a different approach to pass the GRE subject exam.

        GRE

        Download free GRE theme resources

Once you follow these steps, the next thing is to download the relevant free study material from the ETS subject testing organization ETS. To pass the GRE subject examination, you can register online in a very prestigious coaching class.

Take a free gre practice test

Many free GRE topics are available online. The best way to prepare for the GRE subject is to take many of them to your chosen subject. According to GRE test experts, the GRE subject may be more difficult than the GRE general. Thus, The more you try, the better result you will get.

More methods for GRE Exam preparation

While suggesting to you about how to prepare for the GRE exam, I should mention 3 excellent resources that I know.

ETS Facebook pageThese resources help you prepare for the GRE General and GRE subjects. This is because the Facebook page has regular updates, free bonus resources, quiz contests as well as comments from other GRE general and GRE subject candidates. You can also learn a lot from comments. You can ask questions or get free advice from ETS experts using Facebook Messenger.

ETS’s official Instagram pageThe Instagram account gives lots of tips as well as important updates of GRE general and GRE subject.

ETS Official YouTube Channel – The official YouTube page of ETS is a gold mine of resources for gre study preparation. You can watch free videos and tutorials to crack the GRE General and GRE Subject on the YouTube channel.

When are you supposed to take the gre test?

There is confusion over the right time to appear for the GRE Exam. How to take gre? Candidates should note that the GRE at Home (online test) and the GRE test conducted at test centers (offline test) are available throughout the year. Candidates wondering when should i take the GRE test are advised to register for the GRE exam – when they have prepared well for the GRE test. When to take gre?
