It helps to encourage creativity and make us more productive. It is just not a source of entertainment. This can also be therapeutic, easing tension and allowing you to concentrate more effectively. World Music Day aims to promote music in two ways: Amateur and Professional musicians are encouraged to perform on the streets.
The slogan used for this is “Make music” (“Faites de la Musique”).There is an organization of lots of free concerts, making all kinds of music accessible to the public. Two essential things here are- all the concerts will be held free of cost and the artists will perform in these concerts free of charge. Why World Music Day is celebrated on 21st June
Maurice Fleuret, the director of music and dance at the Ministry of Culture in October 1981, at the request of Jack Lang. His ideas on music practice and evolution were put into action. “The music is everywhere, but the concert is nowhere,” he observed. In the year 1982, he looked at the cultural habits of five million French individuals.
He analyzed that one young person out of two played some musical instrument. He started to dream about bringing this talent of the people out on the streets. As a result of this, fete de la Musique took place in Paris for the first time in 1982. Before all this happened, this idea was conceived by American musician Joel Cohen who worked for a French radio station in the 1970’s.
Since the first music festival in 1982, it has become an international phenomenon celebrated on the same day in many countries worldwide. Celebration of this music festival is in close to 700 cities in 120 countries worldwide.
